Co-chairperson
The co-chairperson for the NP SIG works closely with the chairperson to manage day-to-day operation of SIG events and initiatives, and typically manages a key initiative. The co-chairperson becomes chairperson in his/her 2nd year, so this role requires a two-year commitment. The co-chair serves as an ambassador for the AMA NP SIG within own personal network, and speaks on behalf of the SIG to groups, etc. as opportunities arise. The co-chair typically manages a key NP SIG initiative as his/her pet project.
  • Consider this role if: You seek a volunteer role that provides real hands-on management experience, professional visibility & networking.
  • Expected time commitment: 1-3 hours weekly; will vary depending on time of year and key initiatives
  • Experience / Skills: Previous board experience preferred. Work experience in both for-profit and nonprofit ideal, or at least nonprofit corporate relations experience a plus. Excellent communications, follow-through, reliability and self-managed go-getter.
Alliance Partner Liaison
The Alliance partnership is a new initiative for the Atlanta chapter, designed to build strategic partnerships with other Atlanta area member-based associations to broaden AMA's reach in the Atlanta market and add value both to AMA membership and our alliance partner's goals. The Alliance Partner liaison for the NP SIG will work closely with the board's Alliance Partner chairperson to forge 2-4 alliance partnerships with GCN, CCT, PMI and others to drive attendance at the NP SIGs 3 anchor events. He or she acts an an ambassador for AMA SIG within own personal network, and commits to attend all 3 anchor events; welcome representatives of alliance partnership and help to ensure success of alliance.
  • Consider this role if: If like start-up initiatives and are a business matchmaker at heart, this could be for you; this is our first year seeking alliance partnerships for NP SIG events, so the there's no cookie cutter formula to replicate.
  • Expected time commitment: Moderate, typically 1-2 hours a week, mostly focused on strategy development and pitching. Minimal in person meetings; mostly brief conference calls and emails
  • Experience / Skills: Proven record of relationship-building; Organized self-starter with strong presentation and pitching skills; Ability to develop strategy and be accountable for execution
Sponsorship & Grants liaison
The Sponsorship Liaison for the NP SIG serves as the primary liaison to the Sponsorship committee representing the NP SIGs funding needs. Help identify sales leads of potential sponsors for NP SIG events for Sponsorship committee to pursue. Pitch proposals for sponsorship with sponsorship committee representative or other AMA partner as needed. Write 1-2 simple grants (typically <4 pages) to AMA Foundation for funding support. Coordinate with chairperson and others as needed to complete and submit by fall deadline(s). Attend all events where sponsor(s) have presence to help with spurring networking, recognition, etc.
  • Consider this role if: If you thrive in start-up initiatives; this is our first year seeking sponsorships for NP SIG events, so the there's no cookie cutter formula to replicate. If you're a nonprofit professional, great opportunity to explore corporate sponsorships as a career shift, or add to your portfolio of corporate sponsorship deals if you already are in the business.
  • Expected time commitment: Moderate, typically 1-2 hours a week, mostly focused on strategy development and pitching. Minimal in person meetings; mostly brief conference calls and emails. The SIG expects to host 3 events between fall 2006 and summer 2007.
  • Experience / Skills: Proven relationship builder and 'no limits' thinker; Existing relationships with potential sponsors a plus, but not required; Enjoy collaborating with others to problem solve; Cause marketing and/or sponsorship experience a plus; Solid pitching skills
Networking & Event Planning Guru
The Networking & event-planning guru for the NP SIG helps to ensure that our 3 anchor events (Marketing Boot camp, Cause Marketing workshop and a social networking event for nonprofit & corporate professionals) are planned and executed with excellence, thereby earning the SIG a reputation among nonprofit professionals as being host to the most relevant, Òmust attendÓ event. Be an ambassador for AMA SIG within own personal network; available to speak on behalf of SIG to groups, etc. as opportunities arise.
  • Consider this role if: You're a proven event planner, are a detail-oriented, high energy individual looking to build your portfolio of success stories and execute with excellence.
  • Expected time commitment: Moderate, typically 1-2 hours a week, mostly focused on strategy development and pitching. Minimal in person meetings; mostly brief conference calls and emails
  • Experience / Skills: Must be dependable and able to commit for full year (July-June 2007) Detail-oriented professional able to deliver results on time, on budget;2+ years experience planning and executing special events preferred
Website & Database manager
The website and database manager for the NP SIG is 'communication central' for SIG's outreach to the community. He or she ensures that the Atlanta chapter's NP SIG website content is current & relevant, and maintains the database of SIG contacts, including event attendees, email inquirers, etc. and provide outreach strategies to the chairperson. Update the NP SIG website as needed, coordinating with the Chapter's administrative team. Keep chairperson and NP SIG committee members abreast of progress. Be an ambassador for AMA SIG within own personal network; available to speak on behalf of SIG to groups, etc. as opportunities arise.
  • Consider this role if: You like building processes for sustainability.
  • Expected time commitment: Minimal, typically 1-2 hours a month, mostly focused on database management and ensuring website is synchronized with our 3 anchor event's information in a timely manner. Minimal in person meetings; mostly brief conference calls and emails
  • Experience / Skills: Excellent web copywriting skills; Adept database manager; Attention to detail; Self-starter comfortable using technology to improve business processes
New Member Engagement Manager
The New Member Engagement manager for the NP SIG ensures that all new AMA members with an interest in nonprofit marketing are welcomed and connected to the NP SIG and other resources to create a quality membership experience from the start. Work with membership to contact new members who've expressed an interest in nonprofit SIG or pro bono volunteer opportunities, ideally within 30 days of joining. Coordinate with the Website & Database manager to ensure records are updated regularly. Keep chairperson and NP SIG committee members abreast of progress. Be an ambassador for AMA SIG within own personal network; available to speak on behalf of SIG to groups, etc. as opportunities arise.
  • Consider this role if: You're a real people person who enjoys networking and conversing with others, in person and electronically
  • Expected time commitment: Minimal, typically 1-2 hours a month, mostly focused on contacting individuals by phone, in person or via email.
  • Experience / Skills: Excellent communications skills. Reliable, professional, comfortable engaging with people of all levels. A natural Òmatchmaker,Ó able to connect new members with AMA resources and people relevant to an individual's needs.
Project Manager, Pro Bono Project
The Project Manager for the NP SIG's Pro Bono project is the primary day-to-day point of contact with the nonprofit grantee client, and the day-to-day leader of the Service Grant team. A Project Manager/Grant Manager owns the project schedule, ensures effective task delegation to both team and client members, and coordinates regular communications. A successful Project Manager/Grant Manager has two or more years of experience leading teams to deliver quality results, as well as experience directly related to one of our grant areas (i.e. marketing, human resources or databases/IT.)
  • Consider this role if: Looking to exercise leadership skills, new professional contacts, nonprofit experience, relationship building, applying skills to new environment, team/project management experience
  • Expected time commitment: Moderate-High, typically 1-3 hours a week for 6-10 weeks, with periods of intensity requiring more time, and reasonable flexibility of schedule to accommodate needs of client projects.
  • Experience / Skills: Project management, client relationships, team building, entrepreneurial, milestone setting, communication skills
Volunteer & Client Manager - Pro Bono Project
The Volunteer & Client Manager for the NP SIG is responsible for recruiting, training and volunteer satisfaction of the Pro Bono projects' volunteer corps,a s well as managing client expectations. The Volunteer & Client Manager recruits highly skilled marketing professionals to volunteer their time and skills to execute pro bono work for local non-profits. This person drives members or prospective AMA-Atlanta members to volunteer with the AMA Pro Bono project.

The Volunteer Manager reaches out to potential volunteers via several strategic partnerships with leading corporations, trade associations, college and universities and personal networks. Develop and implement partner-specific recruitment programs that maximize our ability to convert prospective AMA members to volunteer applicants. Programs will likely include online advertising, editorial placements, ensuring exposure at events, printed collateral, and speaking opportunities. Work creatively with partners to find additional cooperative ways to fuel the success of our volunteer recruitment efforts and increase impact. Track and report on the effectiveness of recruitment efforts. This person needs to work closely with the AMA board's Alliance partner chairperson as well as others on the NP SIG volunteer team.
